This possible?

To run 2 people in the 5V5 bracket to gather some arena points?|||you need 5 for the 5v5 bracket|||What??? You need 5 for a 5v5? How many do you need for a 3v3 or 2v2???

1v1?|||Well I know you can do 2v3 in 3v3, and 1 v 2 in 2v2, but you need 5 for 5's?

Two Shamans for Battle Grounds?

Hi,

Me and the g/f got quite addicted to Battlegrounds when we were 38-39, but now we're both 40 we face the prospect of no BG fun for a while, so we thought we'd level some toons up for keeping in the teens maybe 20s. We both thought Shaman would be fun - any suggestions? I know they get travel form later on, but what's good for talents etc?

Any general advice appreciated :)|||resto and elemental would work or resto and enhancement|||Even at low level? They don't seem to have much dps or survivability.|||I am lvling a frost mage (36 now) and a enhance shaman (30 now). When my shaman was 27, she could finish the same quests (wetlands) faster than my mage which was 31 then. I think it was because shaman can do melee and spell damage plus the underwater breathing talent. On the other hand, my mage's spells got resisted from time to time.

Also, when my rogue (70 now) was in 20s, shamans topped the damage meter in my group.

Pros:

Ghost wolf at lvl 20.

Healing

High DPS

Underwater breathing

Lots of spells and totems

Cons:

OMG mana drainer - drink every 3 mobs. Mages have twice mana pool at the same lvl.

No CC.

Too many spells and totems.

I tried AB when my shaman was 28. It was fun to see everyone ran so slowly when I was running in ghost wolf form. When I was losing in fights, I lay down the slowing down earth totem and transformed to the wolf form and ran away... LOL.

|||What about a druid shaman combo then? I have a level 10 druid.

We were thinking to play in the 10-19 bracket so no speed :(|||I found druids kind of boring and not that great before 20-25...|||What about Shamans? They seem to do ok in BGs but I don't see how looking at their spells and talents. A 49 blew me up in like 2 hits tonight :(|||Well, he was 9 levels higher than you. That's why it's generally not a good idea to go to BG's at anything less than *6-*9 (where * is the bracket your in).

The big thought is that the 30-39 and 40-49 brackets are the Enhancement Shaman's best times in BG (when you play them right).

Unless you plan to completely twink them out, I'd go for the 20-29 bracket, as you'll get Ghostwolf (and if you get lucky, that Axe from RFK)|||Surprisingly, apart from the obviously twinked 49s I was holding my own being tanked specced, and certainly swung a few battles with a well timed heal. It was only the shaman that were literally blowing me up!|||At that level, it doesn't really matter what spec you choose as long as your communication is good and strategy is sound.

As you will be a part of a team of 10-15 rather than a 2v2 Arena group, I would actually go both Restro. Keep yourselves and your teamates healed. Just remember, be flexible. You don't have to worry about +Spell Gear or +Healing - an Enhancement Shaman throwing a heal on a companion is like 90% as effective as a Restro Shaman. Restro Shaman may have more mana, but the move itself has almost the same validity. Likewise, a Restro deals almost as much damage as an Enhancement Shaman - especially if you have a powerful +Strength 2 hander w/Windfury you can switch to.

The Honor, The Boredom, The Numbers.

After playing 8 Alterac Valley's in a row with my Rogue I switched to my Paladin to cut a +8 Resilence gem for a friend.

I glanced over my Paladin's gear... a mix/mess of anything with +Healing and mp5 on regardless of cloth/leather/mail/whatever

and thought I'd go check out the proper plate healer gear to see the stats and looks.

I was impressed. My Paladin would look awesome in that "Gladiator's Ornamented" gear.

(Mmmmm, lovely.)

So I wrote down the numbers for stuff required for future reference:

Here's the totals for 10 items:

(Chest, legs, shoulders, helm, gloves, boots, neck, bracers, waist, mace.

I haven't factored in rings or trinkets.)

70 Arathi Basin marks

50 Warsong Gultch marks

50 Alterac Valley marks

70 Eye of the Storm marks

~153300 honor points. (That may be slightly off but I'm pretty sure it's close.)

(Why is there no +Heal shield that can be purchased with honor points?)

Suffice to say the appeal of the gear dropped slightly.

I worked out that I can earn around 7000 honor a day, taking roughly 4/5 hours.

153300 / 7000 = 22 days.

If I were to commit to 9000 honor a day it'd be 17 days.

So... my questions are:

How many of you have actually done this? (And remained sane.)

Should I wait for the next patch or start chipping away at the honor requirements now? (Will the next patch make things easier or worse?)

How are PvE rewards in comparisson and would they take even longer to acquire?

Any tips for making the grind less.... annoyingly dull.|||hahah m8 your a legend. i have nearly the full set plus the mace. just about to buy bracers woop.

It does look very nice and is better than most of the stuff that drops in kara for a holy pally.

I work full time so i dont have much spare time, how ever spending most of my days off grinding honor when i can it didnt take too long. Although i had 1 really lucky day where i got like 50 eots marks haha.

But i didnt stay sane, infact i completely lost the plot lol.

After i get the bracers tommorow, i will retire from pvp. Well until wrath of the lichking and the lvl 80 stuff hits the shelves. God i must be insane.

But the best thing about the pvp stuff is......ITS GARANTEED, i wanted the plate chest i remeber from ramparts, i did 14 runs and it didnt drop. Thats my point, pvp might take a while but at least you are garanteed amazing gear after the grind.

Dont wait.. start now , otherwise you will always be waiting for better gear, so to speak.

Tip for making it less boring.... Yes. Put wow in window mode and watch DVDs while playing. haha thats what. i did. i got through the entire series of family guy and planet earth.

Good luck my friend.

All i will say is that it is well worth it. You look seriously cool and stats are insane. ;|||Ahh savier, you inspire me!

Alas, my internet connection is poor this weekend.

(Damn you NTL/VirginMedia, EVERY weekend this happens!)

Thankfully my Paladin has quite a few Marks from various BG's in her bags

but 70 EOTS Marks... *sighs*... I hate that BG.

I guess I'll start tomorrow when my connection improves.

I want to buy the most expensive item first and get it out of the way...

does that make sense to anyone else?|||Quote:

I upgrade first by what gives the biggest boost from my prievious gear.|||Actually, depending upon which is your favorite BG the marks are the least of your problems. I actually like AV/AB and hate wsg/eye so those marks are a pain.

I think the honor numbers are the same for your gear regardless of which class.

The general guideline is to get the marks, then grind AV (or whatever weekend it is for a change) until your eyes bleed.|||Quote:

Preferably in a pre-made. Helps a lot.|||I have done the equivalent of that grind on 3 characters now.|||Quote:

Preferably in a pre-made. Helps a lot.

Indeed

I also noticed the op is assuming 7k honor per day. That's a bit more than I play, but I'm pretty casual. To help eleviate the boredom just figure that at 7k honor per day you'll be getting a piece every other day, sometimes more frequently due to left over honor. So instead of sweating a 22 grind to get it all done look at it more like one of your dailies and instead of money you get "teh epix!!!!!111oneoneone"|||my priest is 3/5 s1(has 2/5 of the +heal s1) and 2/5 S3

than all the veterans pieces but ring, and the vindicator ring.

you'd be amazed how quickly the honor and tokens roll in if you quit wasting time...get in with a solid premade and 1500+honor an hour is easy in AB/EOTS.

My priest has 3 PvP mounts, everything is Glad/Veterans or better except the weapons and 1 ring. And he has 100 of each mark...but only 9k honor...almost enough for the 2nd ring than its the weapons.../sigh to bad im about to shelve the dwarf shadowpriest in favor of my quickly leveling UD Warlock whom is a smudge of exp shy of lvl 55.|||Quote:

Indeed ^^

AV still gives the most honour, even if it's another PvP weekend.

A few tips:

- Engage in arena fights every week. You may get a single S2 piece in a month or so but it saves you grinding. It looks the same (weapon), has better stats and arena only takes 10 times 3 minutes a week. 5 vs 5 gives the most arena points but even 2 vs 2 at low rating is ok.

- Do the daily PvP. It gets you extra honour and some money as well and accumulates tokens.

Undead or Tauren Warrior? PVP

Hey ive been wondering which race is better for Arena,BG's,ect Tauren or Undead?|||tauren

:)|||5% stam increase to an allready high buttload of stam is nice.|||Orc > both tbh.|||LIES stun resist is nothing. Id rather have warstomp and +5% health|||Apart from that, Tauren do pretty well on the intimidation aspect. I mean, what's scarier, a huge bull-man charging at you or a small hunched back skeleton/zombie type of guy?|||Quote:

LIES stun resist is nothing. Id rather have warstomp and +5% health

It's not the stun resist alone, it's the ability to wipe off wound poison stacks from poison rogues (thus your team can cleanse off crip with some degree of reliability).|||Here's how I'd rate Horde for warriors for PvP

Orc > Tauren > Troll > Undead

1. Orc - Stun Resistance... you'll find that you have a much easier now that one of the easiest ways to shut you down is no longer viable. And Berserking Fury is a mini-Berserk that, if played well, makes it a worthy tool in and of itself.

2. Tauren - The extra hps when you have 13k-17k is very noticable. It amounts to a 2nd Fortitude Buff by a maxed out priest. Not to mention Warstomp gives you an extra interrupt/escape tool, something warriors do not have an abundence of.

3. Troll - Funny thing is, if you play Berserk right, it can turn you into an absolute nightmare in a 1v1 or even 2v1 situation for 10 seconds. You pop it at 30% life, and you'll gain even more than Bloodlust.

4. Undead - Ironically, I think they're the worst PvP race for a warrior, Horde-side. Between Berserker Rage and the 2 minute PvP trinket, WOTF is not nearly as useful for warriors as it is for other classes.

Why world PvP SHOULDN'T suck in WoW

Still can't get my head around the idea that world PvP in WoW is all but useless as far as rewards, where going out and hunting in enemy territory often against greater number is all but worthless. You'll never get amazing fights like this in a BG because you simply can't get 6 Vs 17 in there :(

First one is a little smaller just to give you an idea:

http://www.rynoth.com/movies/dom6vsmany.avi

This one is huge, but in glorious quality. Group of 6 take on 17 WITH the enemy zerging. Was really hoping for more of this in WoW when I came over :(

http://www.denofmadness.com/e107_plu...topic.php?5033|||meh, you can sure get 6vs 17 in a BG..,

Just get two healer friends, a couple of warriors, you and a druid (root) to FW or SP GY, and there you got it!.

Though I agree, world pvp outnumbered battles are way cooler.

Check the druid+warr smashing an BWL raid outside BRM before TBC. Now there's some world pvp :)

Wheeliechamp is the name of the warrior.|||*Wheeliecool and Champ|||Where would I find this? Is there a video? Love watching PvP vids, best way to learn other classes :)|||hrrm, it starts with warcraft, ends with movies. dont say i told.

It's very long though, about 40 minutes, and if you played some 2v2 against warr+druid you will recognise a lot of it...

Though before TBC, it was a gamebreaking in the use of warr+dru synergi.|||Another reason for or how to make world PvP better - contested epics. They were fighting for 3-4 hours non-stop last night:

External site with bad language :)|||Well imo the problem with world PvP is that on most servers the alliance population is twice the number of the horde population.

For instance, on my server Halaa is alliance in 95% of the cases. Try to cap it and you're thrown out pretty quickly just because you're outnumbered.

Same for the Hellfire PvP daily. As hordie the only way you can do this is r asking the whole guild to help r do it at 4 AM.

Yes it's nice to have a few skilled and well-geared players defeating a host of enemies, but that's not what 99,99% of world PvP is like.

That's why BGs are better; at least you start off with approxiomately the same numbers.

A good idea would be to give horde yet another attractive race in the next expansion and to give alliance something silly. Only when the factios are 50-50 world PvP would become a nice alternative.|||Quote:

on most servers the alliance population is twice the number of the horde population.

Not on mine. And I only had to check out the next server on the list to see an opposite situation. So it's actually pretty far from "most".

Quote:

A good idea would be to give horde yet another attractive race

I didn't know they have one. Blood elves disgust me more than my undead priest does.

This just to show another thing that might as well be counterproductive with your proposed changes.|||Being outnumbered = more kills over there. The best players, the ones that want PvP, PvP gear and (something like) respect all roll on the outnumbered team.

And undead females are the hottest in game - fact.|||Quote:

The best players, the ones that want PvP, PvP gear and (something like) respect all roll on the outnumbered team.

This is the kind of thinking that has convinced me to stick to the alliance, since everyone I've met on the horde seems to repeat this same mantra.

Even when the alliance is actually the outnumbered side, like on my server.

And I never said my priest was female. (Assuming this was a response to my post)

Using a keyboard instead of Mouse (not a 'which is better' thread)

Hi guys

This is not a thread about asking which is better, using a mouse or keyboard. I know that using a mouse is more precise, but... I bought a really good gaming mouse, tried to use it more than several times, and it's just not for me.

For one, I play on a laptop, so usually I'm on a sofa with my laptop on my lap. No room for an external mouse next to me. I've tried putting a book next to me and put a mouse pad on top of it...

But I just suck with the mouse, yes turning is very quick I love that, but I'm all over the place in a close fight, and not being able to back up is an issue (my other hand is busy on my action and macro keys, and with my other hand on the mouse... ) I suppose I could program one of my mouse keys as the backup key, but still... I'm very unprecise in my movements and positioning when using a mouse, and again, with a laptop on a coach, it just doesn't work out to well.

So.. my question is for people WHO USE A KEYBOARD and to try to get some advice on making that more precise.

I don't mean about which key you bind to what... I'm a lefty so it's different for me anyway. I use the arrow keys to move, and my left hand is the one that presses all the buttons.

My question pertains to trying to do something similar that you can do with a mouse, which is be able to 'view' for example 180 degrees and then turn that way.

I know with the arrow keys it takes longer to turn than with a mouse as it's not instant, but has anyone figured out a way (or is there some kind of addon) that perhaps helps with this?

Such as a keybinding that would maybe view left 90 degrees each time you press it (and another key that would view right 90 degrees on each press), and then moving forward would instantly make you go in that direction (assuming you were still holding that 'view' key)

I think that would be very useful if such an addon existed, or if there was a way to set that up some how.

Nidanone|||oh , another "leftie"

I dont use my mouse to move (though i tend to "doublepress" and quick turn sometimes)..... one big tip i can hand to you is to use the keypad for moving (5,8,4,6) and use the arrows for macros/targeting/triknets/whatever , easy reached by the thumb. That way i can be a "semi mouser" with my most used spells/abilitys/macros tied to arrow keys.

You can bind the other keypad keys to different uses too...like i got 7 for jump , 0 for autorun etc, etc, etc

A classic move i use withtthe rogue is "jumpturn" , i slap my 7 key and doublepress the mouse and twitch around , its so in my fingers i almoast cant jump anymore without turning|||Why is this in the PvP thread? Not a big deal but it is ironic because not using a mouse is not a huge deal in PvE but a death sentence in PvP. I sometimes use just the keyboard while I am eating or something but if I encounter an enemy toon than the food gets dropped and my hand reaches for the mouse. Which is usually too late...|||That's why it's in the PVP thread... I like PVP, but I haven't been able to get used to using a mouse to play.

So I'm trying to get advice from others who may be using the keyboard to PVP and see how they manage.

Again, I know that using a mouse is way better, but maybe with some tricks the keyboard can come close, I don't know.|||well , i played wow since beta , and did MUCH pvp with different characters....tryed to be a "mouser" several times but never got a hang of it (much because im a lefthander and keyboard isnt really designed for my playstyle, no matter where i put my right hand i seem to doublepress witht humb etc...etc)

I cant really say im "bad" at pvp (and with the rogue is much of controlling to be sucessfull) ..... moving with keys works , and can work good too despite of what all other "pros" say.

Just adept to it with the right skills/macros in reach of your thumb , and use a target key (very important) never ever click to target anything since you have to move your mouse from your "click area" , get a good setup on screen for the buttons (well , i use standard now but thats just from lazyness ) .... and i guess a good mouse is important too (Logi G3 is suiatable for us lefties with buttons we can reach)|||The problem is you're playing a rogue - one of the classes where fine tuning of movement actually is of the utmost importance.

For a mage, it doesn't make a huge difference whether you blast a fireball from 22 yards or 28 yards. The end result is the same.

To a rogue, being on 5 yards or on 11 yards makes the difference between not doing any damage at all and murderising someone.|||Quote:

I cant really say im "bad" at pvp

Thats a poor measurement. Maybe you are good at PvP, but just think how great you could be if you used a mouse as well! I am a lefthander and use my left hand for the keyboard and my right for the mouse...|||Quote:

Oh hell , that is impossible for me i guess , i cant even pick my nose with right hand

And trust me i tryed to become a mouser , but my system works very well for me i guess and i thought i could share it.

And about my own measurment of pvp godness is that ive done it for 2.5 years or longer , rarley loose (xept if i get jumped by a better(counterclass) player that is ) , that goes for most of my characters ... but its witht the rogue i feel somehow handicaped by not mousemoving .... but usually i beat the "frantic running/strafing/jumping(stress) rogues" , just keep a cool head and you usually win anyways.|||Use this on the couch - no need for a book next to you or whatever, get into what ever slouched postion you want :)

Or one of these :)
|||wow those look cool. And I can imagine having better precision with a rolling ball than a mouse I move around.

Do you know what model/product #'s the above are so I can google them?

I have the Logitech MX Revolution now which is still like brand new, I may just sell that and try one of the above.

Thanks

#1 yes you do need to be lvl 70 to do arena.

Prior to that you can do squirmishes (sorry if I spelled this word wrong). In there you basicaly get a feel for what arena will be once your char hits 70. The disadvantage is these give you no arena points.

#2 you do need to be in a team prior to going in. You can either start your own team and invite a friend / guildie/ etc. Or you can join a friend's team.

If you start your own team you will need 1 more signature for a 2 v 2, 2 more for 3 v 3, and 4 more for 5 v 5.

Hope I was able to help you answer your questions|||Quote:

Arena points Distribution

Quick question, for arena points doesn't it only take in your team with highest rating/points? and not all of them?|||if you are asking wether or not you get poitns from 2v2, 3v3, and 5v5 at the same time the answer is no. You get points from whatever ranking will yield you the most points which usually winds up being your 5v5 team.

Ret Pally now viable in Arena?!?

Ive been gone seven months...

Back when i played wow, ret pally in arena was laughable, practically asking to be made fun of.

Now Ive returned and a friend says that if my seal procs i can 1 shot or even 2 shot enemies?!?

Is this guy pulling my leg or what?|||I've 2 shotted guys in AV.

There is no way in Arena that any class can 1shot or 2shot or even 3shot anyone except for scrubs.

That being said, Ret is doing VERY well in 3v3's. They are decent but nothing amazing in the other brackets as far as I know. They are no longer a joke at least, once geared.

I tend to do very well in BG's, gear for gear. Just started arena and not in an ideal group, so not much to say there.|||Ret is doing well in 3v3, and even there I expect it to get crippled once people start playing old style lineups.|||Why do you think that? Why do you think that? Just wondering, won't ever experience any glory there myself.

Ret pally teams have come to prominence because of two things.

1. Druid solo healer teams with no non-druid cc for melee.

2. Double Melee comps being common.

Basically the only 3v3 team with Ret Paladins is Ret/Warr/Healer - Healer is usually druid or shaman.

Thing is, that comp will beat most if not all the melee/melee/healer and druid/x/y teams out there, but the thing is that comps like Druid/Mage/Warrior and Rogue/Mage/Priest can really crap all over the 2 melee (well, except the double rogue varieties) teams.|||You also forget the massive damage possible with Arms Warrior/Ret Paladin/Resto Shaman.

Dropping windfury allows that combo do deal very serious hurt.

I would like to present a completely independent suggestion to a Ret build for Arena.

Resurrecting in BG's

I searched so if I missed it sorry. I just started PvP'en and I noticed alot of players run from the GY why I have 29sec. left when I do this I get to my body and I have 2min. What gives? am I missing something? I am in the GY alot and it is like every time Im there I see this happening.|||You see them run away but they just probably rezed and are not ghosts, if you get a 30 sec rez timer then this definitely means you just missed the previous timer (counting down for those already at the GY waiting to rez) and have to wait for the full 30 secs again.

ALWAYS rez at the GY as you'll come back with full health and mana, it's only 30 secs, and if you're a pet class your pet will be resurrected as well with full health. Running to your body will often result in a wait to res (if someone loots you), will get you called a nub, or when you do res you don't have full life or mana and have just become a nice target for a rogue to one shot.

Heck, my num-lock key got stuck for a second last night and I auto ran right off the GY hill area in WSG, and though it was an accident, I certainly felt like a noob lol.|||LOL, I have did just that! the guy third from the bottom did more damage than you!|||I'm about surviving no damage, and being grey back then they would generally go for me first. I always make sure I'm at the front, get them on me and the people with me do most the killing. Damage and healing have gone up now I'm 46 and still right up there.|||well, you are good at assisting. i assume it was your AoE. Which hardly tickles someone a few levels above you. I wouldnt realy call that owning :) But keep it up as long as it makes fun :) it certainly gives good honor.|||I do fire off an AE or two but mostly get the mine and hold it, taking on anything that comes down regardless of level or class (damn 49 shamans!). Just wish I could shout, "you shall not pass" in Alliance language and wtfpwn a Balgrog occassionally :D|||C'mon give the guy some credit - he's taking a road less travelled (either that, or he got bored on the way to 49... whichever. heh). Twinking out at a low level is an interesting challenge in which you attempt to overcome a 4-6 level disadvantage using your own skill and ability to itemize.

I wish more twinks had the big, bronze balls this guy has... because twinking at *9 is an activity for people who don't have the skill to PvP at 70, or get off on easy wins.|||Quote:

because twinking at *9 is an activity for people who don't have the skill to PvP at 70, or get off on easy wins.

Incorrect, some of us love pvping - regularly I pvp on my 70 hunter (with a preBC "Master Seargent" title and 15k + kills), 68 mage (loving him lately), 49 priest (now 50 so I could get tailoring to 350), 29 twink rogue, and a 27 warrior that I've been leveling from time to time. It's a change of pace pure and simple. Twinks are little projects that some of us enjoy doing. I spent several months researching, questing, buying things for my little rogue. I recently saved up enough honor to get my alliance battle standard. It has nothing to do to with skill (I'm sure there are some sad souls that only twink b/c they can't hack it elsewhere - but this is not usually the case at all). Read one of the 100 threads here about twinking etc, and you'll find that many of those that have twinks - like fighting other twinks - not one shotting dudes all day to watch their epeen grow.|||I have some high level toons and a level 19 twink. I like most aspects of this game and its fun to play with different styles.|||Sorry - I can't take the: "I twink so I can fight other twinks" attitude seriously. I call BS whenever I see that 95% of the time - because when I'm leveling an alt, twinks don't *ignore* me and find other twinks to fight. :)

Do they have a right do whatever they want within the rules for $14.95 a month? Yes. Do they have the *right* to twink? Yes. So don't argue that - you're well within your right to do it.

Do I have to like them? Hell no. Do I have to take anyone who plays a twinks seriously? Hell no (I can understand the fun may actually be in building one and showing him off on the forums - kinda like a classic car that sits in a garage, or a 50 year old collector's item in its original packaging - but to those who actually enjoy playing them seriously, I got limited respect for). Can I think whatever I want about people who twink? Hell yes.

Next season Arena Ret Pally Items

Should we be hoarding honor and arena points for next season arena items? Or should I just go ahead and get items im missing now?

Are those new items going to be much better for Retribution Arena?

http://static.mmo-champion.com/mmoc/...indication.jpg|||S4 is a long way off, get S3 gloves and anything else. Patch 2.4 will bring res to S1/S2 Ret armor also. S2 gear will be availble for honor when s4 starts also.

Difficult Item choice decisions!

An Example:

These are my old bracers

These are the new bracers

Using RatingBuster I was able to determine the new bracers are a higher item level, however they have significantly less Stamina and what i believe to be less damage and mana in exchange for a small 5+ Str. (Enchant and Gem aside)

As a Ret Arena Pally which should i use please?|||Bladespire because s1 ret pally gear has no resilience.

But of course the best option is farm the Vindicators ones :)

Pally twink , lvl 29

Im tired of 70 5-10 mans , and i like pallys , so im thinking of doing one , im lvl 22 , planning on doing 20-29 bgs , and I need some gear tips.

Maybe if 20-29 sucks im going for 30-39 , wich one is the best ??

thnx in advance|||Both will do good for a Ret Paladin. We are stronger compared to other classes at 20-29 than the 30-39 bracket, however.|||Really good retri armory: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-s...n=Disgustipate

PvP gear

Just a question for you experienced PvPers out about. I was looking over the gear and weapons and other items in the Champions Hall in SW and I noticed that there is some very nice gear to be obtained. The price though seems to be high, which I fully expect as it is purple so it is considered epic.

I have a few questions. First the honor required for even one items looks very high compared to what I am earning now. I should say that the character I have started to PvP with is quite low, being 38. Not having been to a high level PvP enviornment it would seem that the marks for the BG's would be easy enough to get but what about the honor? Or if there is a guide or some sort of strategy involved can someone point me in the right direction? I am just wanting to maybe expand my WoW experience and thought I might give PvP a try.

New Life|||BG's give more honor at higher levels. At level 70, for example, you get about twice the honor you're getting now. (I think)

Also, it's generally advisable to save your honor points for those items that you won't replace fast through leveling, namely, the level 70 ones. That is, if you're planning to level up to there.|||Thanks Icefrost. I was planning on saving my marks and honor for the 70 gear because of the reason you stated...outleveling the other gear with relative ease.

New Life|||One thing I forgot to ask...is there an honor point max based on level or is the honor you can earn infinite.

New Life|||75k is max you can hold at once

Learn to love alterac valley. You will be there a lot.|||Magikhat...is that 75,000 honor at level 20 and 70 or is that the 70 max?

New Life|||Its the level 70 max. I could be wrong but I think it use to cap out at like 55k if you arent 70. Cant remember honestly. I would jsut concentrate on getting 70 and forget about honor for now.|||Don't forget that you can buy items in other places besides SW. At each of the original BG portals there should be a vendor.

It was only a few days ago that I picked up the AV thingie that gives everyone 10% damage and the trinket that ports me back to home base.|||Thanks for all the responses guys...I appreciate your help.

Hey whats the best class to go with a frost mage and another team with a disc priest i was thinkin about rogue with mage and ele shaman with priest?|||There was a video floating around of one of the top ranked teams and they were a frost mage and druid, not sure if it's the best combo, but it looks good here and works for them. If I find it I'll post it up.

Edit:

"our rating was 2504 in Season 1 placing us in rank 3 on our battlegroup, and the highest ranked Mage / Feral Druid combo in the world."

I can't link the video as it's on a warcraft movie site that inc gamers doesn't approve of.

Just google:

"The Fat Cow and The Pro (2500+ Rating)"

and you'll find it.|||Rogue.

Fat cow and the pro got really really lame during s2 apparently.|||I find a lock works well with my frost mage in 2v2.|||rogue mage is cookie cutter right now. Rogue stuns/dps and mage slows/dps and tees off on the stunned rogue targets with shatter combos.|||Ele sham is not good as sole DPS.

Their damage is all except shocks interruptable, which is bad.

Disc priests work with any class, though some more then others... Like rogue, lock, mage or hunter.

Question regarding Battle Ground Gear Rewards

Question real quick in regards to some of the gear you can buy with honor earned from battle grounds. There are two types of gear you can buy at level 70: season 1 arena gear and then other epic gear for spots not covered by arena gear (boots, belt, neck...). My question is does that gear change from season to season. For some reason I don't think it does but I am not sure. Basically, I have been doing a lot of battle grounds lately and have quite a bit of honor. I am trying to decide if I should spend it now or wait for the upcoming season 4. Since all I need to buy are the non-arena type gear if the gear does not change from season to season then there is no advantage of waiting.|||Season 4 will not be out for probably months. Don't wait for it.

When it does come out, the Vindicator's gear (which is equal to S3 gear), will be renamed and increased to S4 levels. S2 gear will also become available for honor, replacing the S1 gear.

Twink Weapon for Mongoose Nerfed???

So after aquiring all the mats for my rogue twink and trying to get the mongoose enchant put on the Windstom Hammer, I discovered it was nerfed to item level 34 recently. Can anyone recomend other lvl 35 weapons for my 29 twink rogue? l|||Only option I've found is the

Skullbreaker - which of course it's Horde Only. Interesting about certain items and weapons that are in the game (their item level and which side can get them). IMO each side should be able to get equal gear / weapons. Blizzard knows what players are doing with these items. Like the quest line "Final Passage" where you get to choose from the Windstorm OR The Dancing Flame (wand - the item level is 40! it the highest DPS wand in the game that a 29 could use) and of course they're both Horde . . . which you know about but it's still BS lol

Still running SM trying to get the Torturing Poker to drop for me (twice) and after 35+ runs it still has not dropped.

Here's my current little twink (I could have some better stuff and enchants - but this was cheaper for the moment, I'll upgrade eventually - he still cost 500+)

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-s...al&n=Kutthroat

I read the Looming Gavel was TBC enchantable . . . but I see it as a level 31 item in my searches.

Maybe it got changed when they nerfed Windstorm in 2.3?

Oh **** moments !

Thought i would share this funny (or sad) arena match we had yesterday ....

We are doing our guildruns in 5v5 each week , using vent and we are struggling in the mid range (not too seroius but its fun to win ....) , that is the backround

Well , we had our share of losses from uber geard teams and with regular setups (most common seems to be 2 healer/hybrids and 3 dps) and our share of wins....

Then we enterd Nag arena , strats was ready and we was tagged , rogue sneaks out to take a peak what we encounter and lets out a "Holy ****" in the mic , next happens is that 4 BIG tauren warriors charges (me ofc as a squisher mage i am) i was insta killed (4 MS hurts i might add) , the match ended in less than a minute with the rogue hiding and laughing like mad in the mic

Heard from our pally healer that he only saw 4 taurens mounted and rushing in line and charged..... they had a Shammy (in wolf form in the beginning) popping a WF totem , i guess he was the healer , but not much healing was needed  ..... must look in the armory to see if i find em again... diddnt remember their team name

One of the first times i actually felt "scared"" or the hair on my arms stood straight up .....|||That's why cavalry charges were so successful in the old days - fear did as much damage as the mounted troops and horses :)|||that was about how it felt .... all i missed was howling and roaring (but Taurens migt just "mooh" )

damn good strategey they had anyways , but next time we are better prepared|||How would you defend against that? Lol :P|||we actually discussed that last nigtht , and we figured that if we meet them again we will loose again

I cant even think about another 5man setup to counter that , 4 MS warrs pick one poor kill in the beginning then they are 5 vs 4 (just takes seconds) ..... maybe , just maybe a setup with 3 frost mages and 2 pallys can counter that with iceblock and bubble (to buy some time) and 3 frost kiters MIGHT just do the work , but from my guess each warr has 15k+ hp and resilece to make up for it...so it will take forever to even pick one off (and try to maintin 3 sheeps) ..... *brrrr*

And from the experince from that match they dont even care about who their initial target is ... mount up and take the first they see , the word Blitzkreig comes to my mind|||Little "oh ****" moment this weekend - my pally hit 40 so no more BGs for him for a while so I logged my 28 grey armored Hunter in. Sprinting down to grab the mine at the start (in Arathis Basin or whatever it's called) and I see a Shaman has got their first and is standing there with 4 totems around him. I'm less than a month old in this game and don't even know what the totems do yet, so I stuck on the breaks, did a little pause, and then just ran the other way :D

Not really "Oh ****" more "Oh **** this" :p|||Blood elves in BGs. A quick glance can make you think they're alliance. Charging in to seek sactuary from from the pack chasing you, looking around and seeing that you've just made matters worse.. :)|||Pink haired gnomes have caused me to die in BGs a lot - you are about to kill someone and you just can't resist turning and attacking the smarmy little swines :D|||Very funny story.

If you are running with a 4 DPS team in Arena, that is - bar none - the best move: charge them before they can formulate a strategy. The battle has to end quickly.

In my 2v2 team, I'm with an MS Warrior - and when that Arena comes up, I tell him to ride right up the middle and charge the first person he sees while I ride around on my mount until I see 2 enemies. Several times, my buddy kills the other guy before the Rogue/Druid even gets to pounce me. ;)|||I was in stv with my Paladin helping a friend with a quest (don’t ask me why I brought my Paladin instead of my Rogue).

Now this is a holy paladin, with holy gear, with only my support abilities keybound.

We get attacked by a 70 hunter (full gladiators gear), and for the fun of it, I attack him a bit. The match lasted a few minutes before I was down to 0% and he was down to 96%. I thought it was pretty good (OK, it was pathetic, but I worked with what I had), when I heard:

[General]: Our noob 70 Paladin could only bring a Hunter down to 96%.

[General]: Yeah, I saw that :D

[General]: LOL.

Etc.

I was so embarrassed that I just ressed my friend and left… coming back a while later with my Rogue.

Hardcore PvP Server? How many would brave it?

I would love just 1 HARD-CORE PvP server.

What I mean by Hardcore is not a server where you get ganked and all it costs you is a 45 second corpse run and a little dignity.

What I'm talking about is a server of the style of MMOs of old - like Ultima Online, where if you got ganked, someone could loot *every* item on your body, take all your gold, and wear your own equipment by the time you returned - simply to dance with it in front of him.

Nowhere would you be safe - save, perhaps, the newbie zone. Barrens, Westfall... you would be flagged. And guess what? Not only could you be attacked by members of the Opposite Faction - you can kill your own. And guess what? You see a body of a fellow Orc upon the ground, dead from NPCs and questing... plunder rights belong to you. Loot him dry, or hold the important gear of a buddy/guard his corpse.

You would have to adapt your playstyle - suddenly Grey and White weapons become popular at all levels, simply because of the risks you'd take leveling. For Casters, they'd require a weapon/offhand in their hands at all time in order to cast, and the level restriction has to be less than or equal to the level you acquire the spell you want to cast, -5. IE If you want to cast Psychic Scream as a prest, you need a level 9 mainhand/offhand or staff equipped, as you get that ability at level 14. Several grey/white offhands would have to be introduced. If you only have your level 1 newbie dagger, the only offensive spell you can cast is a rank 1 smite, and you would need to replace this by level 6 in order to use your new abilities. This makes the stakes even for both Casters/Noncasters. At mailboxs, you could mail your gold to the bank (or simply a bank Alt) to keep yourself from losing it all.

All levels would be hidden - lower, higher, equal. You'd have no idea how skillful an opponent was unless you had a chance to watch him.

Also, no gear would be BoP - it would all be BoE. You could probably find most gear on the AH, as the ease of losing it would drastically reduce its cost. To prevent market flooding, if it became a problem, you could impose transfer restrictions - if a particular item is binded more than 5, 10, 20 times... it is irreparibly destroyed.

The question I'd ask: Who would play on it? Rogues may be rampant, the risks simply astronomical. Leveling time would double, triple - even increase 10x over. Getting to level 70 would mean more than just a grind - it would truly mark you a survivor. As it is, any monkey can get to level 70. On this server, it would take a *very* different kind of person - one who makes friends, plans for the worst, and is willing to make sacrifices.

Every moment outside of towns - and even in desolate alleys within town outside the sight of guards - would be wrought with danger. Your enemy could be the guy you've been questing with for 2 hours who decides he'd rather take the loot for himself and leave you dead. Imagine a 25 man free for all suddenly breaking out after Illidan is downed in a BT run, to snatch the loot from his body? Imagine hunting down the idiot who Ninja Looted your guild and taking everything he owns?

... it would not be a server for the faint of heart, but who would be willing to sacrifice ease for a server that offers nothing less but complete freedom to choose your own way?|||I like the idea except for being able to loot the other players of their gear/gold.|||sounds like a great server idea. i wouldnt play it. i like the pvp system as it is, so i'll stay in my realm.|||Funny guy.

You are going to see a naked world. Naked mages will be the most powerful ones.|||Almost funny. Probable server consensus = 99% rogues.|||Quote:

Funny guy.

You are going to see a naked world. Naked mages will be the most powerful ones.

Mages would need to have a staff, or a mainhand/offhand within 5 levels of the spell they wish to cast - or they couldn't cast that spell. I thought of that. The advantage they would have would be far less.

Quote:

Almost funny. Probable server consensus = 99% rogues.

Rogues would *definately* be the most played character, but if it got that bad, you could do a server only perception buff. All players on this server perceive stealthed characters as though they were 5 levels higher. Would make a rogue have to really work hard to sneak up on someone - as everyone's watching their back a bit more closely here.|||I wanted this oringally. I dont like the idea of looting everything on your corpse but I do like the way AC darktide did it. The higher value of the item the higher the chance it has to be looted.|||yea... you'll see a naked world.

if i were to get ganked and die, at most, if i were naked, i'd only lose my weapon. haha.|||Hah - to prevent nudity, make it so there's clothing you can buy that gives no protection and no stats, but that's unlootable.

Swashbuckler outfit ftw.|||I would play on that server, just because of the fact that I played on a hardcore PvP server on vanguard and loved it.

Longest WSG/BG?

So i finally did some PvP after many pleads from my guild.

Probably did between 10-20 of each of the BGs. Todays daily was for WSG, and i decided to give it a go. First 4 times we lost, longest time was 15 minutes. I thought I'd give it one last try before bed....one hour later it ended. Seriously made me despise the place and i dont think ill ever go there again. It was just so frustrating. Atleast we won, but it felt like a loss lol...no one even celebrated in the end.

So whats the longest time youve ever spent in WSG?

I think what made it more annoying was that it took about 35 mins for anyone to win the first flag...and because id put so much time in already, already lost 4 WSGs, it would be too much to leave at that point...Either way youre an idiot lol. Awful stalemate.

On the plus side, I find AV pretty enjoyable. EotS is cool too.

AB sucks hard lol|||I've had a 90 min WSG, premade vs premade. The other team were a turtle setup, and the whole thing became a stalemate. In the end, we formed a conga line with linked follows, and paraded around the midfield and into their base- this seemed to disconcert them so much that they lost their composure and we were able to reclaim our flag for the final cap, winning the match. Very dull for most of it, the end was variously hilarious then exciting.|||WSG needs a timer. After say 15 minutes the game ends, if there's a tie then they should tally up the HK's to decide the winning team.

Nothing makes me hate wow more than farming WSG marks with pugs.|||I've had one AB that lasted almost 2 hours. I felt like I was at the grocery store, had picked the wrong line, but refused to move because I had already stood there for 5 minutes.

Long BGs are, well, annoying but worth it. To come away from it with a win, well, that's what it's about.

My rule for BGs is that I expect to be in there for at least 45 minutes when i start one. There's too many external factors that you can't expect to be in and be out at any given time. (Although, being alliance, I can tell you that my average WSG is about 10 minutes...WITH US LOSING ... *ahem*)

Don't let time deter you from BGs. I have to say that they're one of my favourite parts of the game, and I think everyone should make an effort to experience them at the top of every level bracket.

Good luck next time :)|||I was in an AV once that went on for over 2 hours before I went AWOL.

I was in a Turtlesong Gulch once that went on for an hour before I quit. Neither side was even trying to cap and were just having a free for all at the graveyards.

AB and EOTS usually got pretty quick.

If your BG is obviously not going anywhere soon, it's usually more efficient to just quit, wait the few min and rejoin.

I feel for you Tikki with a 2 hour AB. The effort:honor ratio is really bad in those situations.|||Quote:

WSG is getting changes, from patch notes:

o Warsong Gulch

+ When both flags are held, the flag carriers will receive 50% increased damage done to them after approximately 10 minutes and 100% increased damage after approximately 15 minutes.

+ Flag carriers can now be tracked 45 seconds after picking up the flag.

100% increased damage will make it pretty easy to burst down even a 400 resilience FC of a turtle team, so it will get interestingly sudden death.

Oh, and if PUGs make you sad, don't PUG :) Invest the time in building and training up a circle of people who can at least make a passable premade. Win or lose, at least the games will feel less futile.

So you're a relatively new player, then? Before the cross-real BGs system, AV could last a day or more. Not a new player, I've been at it two years now, but I really didn't start doing AV until I hit 70 with my first toon just a few weeks ago. (Casual player with lots of alts, what can I say) I heard about those long AV battles and am glad I missed them.

Knowing what I know now I would have been doing them all along and saving my honor/marks. My next toon will have full S1 (or as much of whatever set is avail with BG tokens/honnor) the day it hits 70. BG's at 70 with greens is just, to put it mildly, painfull.|||Quote:

Yes, but spending 45 min just trying to find the flag carrier blows.

That being said, the first changes ( 10-15 min damage timer) makes sense. I'm not sold on the 45s flag carrier showing on the map however. It should be also 10-15 min i think. Need advice on 2 vs 2

Hi.

My brother is making a priest and we are planning to 2 vs 2 arena at lvl 70. So my questions are:

1. Can you list the top classes and specs if I am going to team up with a disc priest?

2. Can you list the top classes and specs if I am going to team up with a shadow priest?

Thanks!|||Pretty much the same ones for both:

Rogue (Shadowstep, possibly muti for SP)

Mage (44/17)

Warlock (SL/SL, possibly UA for SP)

Hunter (Marksman, possibly BM for SP).

SP is shadowpriest, UA is unstable affliction, BM is Beast Master, 44/17 is 44 frost 17 arcane, muti is Mutilate, SL/SL is Soul Link / Siphon Life.|||If possible I would really try to push him to go disc. Having a good disc priest heal you, is much more valuable than having a SP.

But if he wants to go SP, UA would work better with a SP. SL/SL is really a outlast spec, ideally paired with a healer.

What classes are you considering? You have a lot more choices if your friend goes disc.|||Thanks a bunch! I'm probably going to roll a SL/SL lock because I have a level 25 one. It sucks though because he's not the healing type of guy. He's more of a damage guy. I try to convince him still. Horde have a Head start from starting areas. and Balinda is very weak and can easly be 5 maned by a pug. what alliance have to counter this is the fact that horde have to deal with our Npc, and we can skip their base's Npc.

get it now?

True. But in 2.4 Balinda is getting Buffed and the Horde will be starting from further away than we're used to.

Yet the fence is highly likely to remain at the same height.

Guess we'll have to wait and see if it makes life more difficult for Horde.

Thanks thulzadoom, my Paladin has high rep with Cenarion and Lower City so I'll log out in Shattrath before the servers go down and investigate in the morning.

Some suggestions, anyone?

Why, hello.

I've decided to start playing again, seems I just couldn't keep away.. And ofcourse there's always, I've been stuggling with the obvious question; what class should I play..?

I've been thinking along the lines of a gnome/human warrior, or perhaps even a nightelf hunter? Im open to suggestions, and I'll consider pretty much anything, but I've played a couple of warlocks/ druids.. Also a shaman, once.

Any tips on a stimulating and fun class? Im mainly into PvP, but soloing capability is always a plus.

Please give me a suggestion, and preferably a good reason to choose it! :)|||you can always roll a pair of dice, flip a coin, or close your eyes and click wildly.

as for suggestions, i really have none. heck, play the one that looks good.|||best thing to do would be take all the classes that interest you to level 20.. and decide from there|||A rogue or a hunter would be both be great choices. Both excel in pvp combat and solo very well (hunters are the best soloing class in the game).

Warriors can be good if you're bent on it, but are more gear dependent than other classes for both soloing and pvp.

If you're not sure which role you would like to fill later on; a druid or paladin offer lots of flexibility and specced properly can fill any of the 3 roles reasonably well. Both of them solo fairly well as well as pvp.

taking 4 toons up to 20 will take you a considerable amount of time if you are new - around 20 hours per toon. I would not recommend this approach. To give some perspective: you could have 1 40 or 45 toon, or 4 level 20's, up to you...

Looking to Reroll, need advice on Class/Race

Okay, so here's the deal. I have a 70 rogue that I'm starting to get bored of. I just go on him to pvp and arena. I want to start making a new class to play in my free time. But, I don't know what to make. So I was hoping for some advice on which class to make.

I want a strong pvp class that's a beast in 1v1. <-- That's my main focus for this character. I'm making the class full pvp, with no pve at all. I plan on no Kara and no heroics(Unless ABSOLUTELY necessary)

If you wouldn't mind, please list the character you think would be perfect for me to reroll with supporting facts to why. Maybe a few Good Vs, Bad Vs or other information. I will have gold and everything for this character since my 70 is on this server. Once again, I'm looking for a FULL PVP class. Also, a spec would be good for the class. I don't mind if it's healing or dps, I just want to do good 1v1.

I will be getting off for the night and hope to see some helpful responses tomorrow when I get home.

Thanks in advanced.

~eNoroX

EDIT : And also a good race for the class* Thanks.

(I posted this on the wow forums, but wanted to get some more opinions.)|||35 Views and nothing? Anyone?|||I am by no stretch of the imagination a pvp master. But as far as 1v1 goes healing spec classes seem to be the most annoying for me. Primarily Disc priest and resto shammy, although as a ret pally I tend to be very weak against dispells. Beyond the 1v1 aspect nothing dictates a BG like heals. In my expierences with BGs although not at 70, resto druids seem to me to be best at keeping up multiple targets, but are poor in single target heals.

As far as pvp at 70 is concerned, I fear that you would have much more knowlegde then I would.

My suggestion, which admittently needs to be taken with a grain of salt, would be resto druid. They have IMO the best veristility, and can easily keep a few people in BG topped off. In 1v1 they can Powershift out of a lot of CC and have some CC of their own. As a resto druid your mana pool is large enough that you should be able to heal through many classes mana pools and nuke them down while they are OOM.|||You already have a strong pvp class with your rogue. Gear him up.

2 vs 2 arena

Hey,

Just a few noob questions about this as i just joined my first team today.

I am a afflic lock and my partner is a rogue, i bought all the new pvp $$ gear from vendor and have 3 pieces of s1 from bg hnr.My basic question is do you only need to play 10 matches a day?Do you only need to lose 10 matches a day? Is there a limit to how many matches you can play in a day?Simply by losing however many matches a week can u still manage to get descent points for gear?

I am of course wanting to kick ass but il need some gear first so just wondering if i have a avg score of like 20/50 loses a week will i still rack up some descent points? or do i need to break even at a 50/50 lose to gain points?

( so far we have played 10 games today and did ok at a 3/10 )

thanks|||I believe it's 10 games per week for the team to get points, with each person needing to play at least 1/3 of the games to qualify for points. Win or lose doesn't matter for being able to get points, but how you perform will affect your rating, which will dictate how many points you can get.

The more often you win, the more your rating goes up and the more points you can potentially earn. However, you're matched against teams with simmilar rating levels as you, so the better you do, the more difficult teams you will come up against.|||you start at 1500 ranking , and will prolly get your share of losses and end up in a lower rank , then at tuesday the arnea points a handed out and your team has gotten the proper rank and you will meet similar skilled/geared teams.

And higher rank = more points each week , so if you do really well first week only loose 50% of your games you prolly has still has 1500 rank and get a decent chunk of points ( think at official site there is the exact numbers) .... but dont deaspair if you dont really really suck you will win soon enough (i got so pissed of at the start from loosing 90% i almoast quitted arena )

Retribution Questions: Plz read.

1) Are Retribution Paladins going to get any further work from Blizzard in the near future? People still seem divided about whether they are good Dps or not.

2) Are Retribution Paladins supposed to wear Str, Agi gear instead of Str, Int?

3) I am proposing a new talent spec. Could Reckoning be better than Crusader Strike? Remember that we want our Seal of Command to proc, and if you get more chances to make it proc, then the better for us all, right?

I am also getting Improved Devo Aura since im never going to use a shield (2h spec) and other paladins may be in the arena team

Thanks|||1. There has been hints from Blues about changes coming in WotLK. We have seen nothing from it as of yet so that is uncertain. They are good when geared correctly and paired with a Shaman. Decent for 5 mans, but fall a bit behind generally gear for gear without a shaman.

2. You wear warrior gear, unless you can get Ret gear. If it has SP, you shouldn't be wearing it. If you are PvPing you need to get the S1 Ret gear.

3. No, Reckoning will never be better than CS. You won't always be hit (and thus it won't proc). Also, SoC CANNOT proc off the free swings of Reckoning. You need controllable damage that CS brings.

You need Sanctified seals, which is another 3% crit to you and your seals cannot be dispelled

You need full Vengeance, the single largest modifier to your damage.

What about Stoicism and Improved Hammer? Or Vindication and Eye for Eye? I am looking only at Arena here... does Crusade work against players?|||I would hold off on Improved Hammer until you get the 4pc bonus - Then it is def worth it, having a 6s stun every 35s is great in PvP for Ret.

However, I would seriously consider using Deflection, as when you parry an attack, you swing faster. With a 2h, that can come in handy.

I have Vindication, and it procs often, but am not totally sold 100% on it.

Eye for an Eye is nice, but I don't feel its a must.

Otherwise looks really good.

Experienced PvPers help please.

Sorry to say but i am trying out this private server have been playing for a while (While i still pay for retail /cry)

So after you flame me for the private server I need advice.

There is an upcoming 20v20 guild event and my alliance guild is looking like the most unlikely to win due to not enough high levels ( Cap is 255 *FLAMETHIS* )

Once I realized this I figured I needed an unbeatable strategy. Allthough I have experience in 1v1 and 2v2 up to 4v4 PvP, I have never done 20v20. Not a fan of BG's.

I managed to get Flask of Petrification recipe after hours and hours. I figure if I give 5 to each member, so 100 in total, if someone is in trouble they can pop a potion and the rest can come save them.

Also lacking of healers ( im a priest and pretty much the only healer )

What should be split our groups into?

4 Groups of 5?

2 of 10?

I was thinking 1 group of 10 with the most powerful players and 2 groups of 5 that stay close.

So besides the Flask of Petrification, can you guys think of anything else that would be a life saver?

Post some strategies.

Note 255 characters with 255 custom weapons do ALOT of damage.

Arena 2v2 with 2 Ret?

My nephew, who I 2v2 with, is gearing up his protadin, switching him to Ret. He wants to duo with me on it.

How does 2 Ret do? I mean we have burst and DS, 4 stuns. Plus double buffs and overlapping auras.

Will we be able to do decent? Just wondering.|||It may do alright, I don't think you'll be reaching much past 1800 if at all in my opinion unless the two of you are exceptional players. The team lacks crowd control, mana drain and healing debuffs.

I believe you'll have the most difficulty with Drainers and CC teams. Mage/Rogue, Priest/Rogue, Priest/Hunter, Druid/Hunter, Druid/Warlock, Druid/Rogue. Druid/Warrior is rough even without any form of a Drain or much CC.

Some double DPS teams will be difficult too, Spriest/Lock and Spriest/Rogue

Against CC teams, Blessing of Sacricing each other will be key. With the change to the gear though I'm curious to see how high one would get.|||No, not expecting to do amazing or anything either. Thanks, I'm just looking forward to some fun with my nephew, and I have personally never seen a double ret team. Thanks|||I love seeing all pally teams on my lock. I 2v2 with a druid and 3v3 with a hunter and pally, and we tend to eat them alive.

The problem you're going to have (as dark said) is mana. Ret Pally's have very small mana pools by comparison and are easy to dry out. Pally with 0 mana = dead.|||Actually I haven't had much trouble with Locks, at least so far. But that doesn't mean I am playing good ones...Druid healers I hate however. Yeah, if you're not playing for the rating play whatever will be the most fun for you. You're the one playing the game so do what will keep you interested.|||If I was overly concerned with Rating, I'd be in one group only.

Ret Pally/Arms Warrior/Resto Shaman|||Just wanted to give an update. My nephew has switched out from his Kara equipped Enhance Shaman to his barely equipped Retadin (1250 base AP).

We went from winning 30% of our fights to winning 70%. Not gonna be uber by any means but Ret/Ret is far superior to Ret/Enhance Shaman.

Premades ... -.-

What I think is a little surprising that we had some heated discussions about twinks but the issue of pre-mades is left rather untouched thus far.

Yes in lower BGs you can encounter twinks that are undefeatable 1-on-1 for a normal geared player. But well, after a while I found out that it's basically the same in the 70s. My lvl70 epic PvE specced priest is just as much a free kill as a lvl23 in greens is for a twink.

On top of that, both sides have some twinks in most cases, so even when you're outgeared by a few players, the teams are still even.

But now there's premades. Imo it's a lvl70-all-twink group that greatly spoils the BGs you enter. Want to try to do a AB during the AB weekend? The game starts, in 50% of the cases you see all 15 opponents are from the same server and you lose 0-5 with 0 or perhaps 20 honour, 0 kills, lots of deaths.

Personally these are by far the worst PvP experiences. Far worse then when I was killed by twinks in the lower bracket BGs. Because you could still win, and teaming with a few others it was still possible to defeat a twink. And with some effort, communication and luck you could still win a match.

With pre-mades they work together so well (probably teamspeak or vent) that you don't stand any chance. Imo it would be better if they would get their own league and wouldn't be matched with pugs.

What's your thoughts on this?|||1. Suggest Blizz to only allow premade to premade. However, there is a way to form a cross realms premade. Also, do you consider it is a premade or pug if 10 ppl in premade + 5 in pug? It would be hard for Blizz to implement only premade to premade.

2. Get in a premade yourself if possible.

3. If you are not in a premade, queue in 3 different BGs and join the non-premade BGs.

4. If you are unlucky to enter a premade (the other side), fight as usual in the begining and you might win sometimes. If you got overrun and GY camped in the 1st min or 2, don't rez because they are doing honor farming. The pain will be over in 5 min.|||Quote:

This.

In all honesty, I wish they would make it Premade vs. Premade only. I'm a casual PvPer, and I participate in Premades that are one step above Trade Channel pugs - I do it for fun, to meet people, and to bring our server closer together. Some of the most fun I've ever had with them is going up against Nathrezim, Frostmane or Dragonmaw (pvp servers) premades and leading the team to victory.

Granted, it's sometimes fun to roll a pug and 5/4 cap in AB/EOTS... but it's not exactly what I'd call challenging or rewarding, and assuming a dedicated premade rolls 10 games a day, 15 players are being satisfied at the expense of maybe 150+ players.|||well, they want to farm honor in a efficient way. Noone can blame them, specialy with blizzard implementing better and better items for normal BG honor.

there are actualy very few premades that are realy experienced in playing together. Most premades are formed in trade channels and didnt play together longer than the day you meet them. The only advantage i see is that they maybe have teamspeak. And that they usualy are a group of 15 people that are willing to cooperate and listen to their leader unlike most PuG's.

the only way around this would be to have a arena like system for BG's aswell. But this would be realy hard for the players, because you would have to open teams and play with the same 15 ( Eots ) to 40 ( AV ) people every time to keep a team ranking etc... I guess this would mean much much much less Bg's.|||Personally I think Premades would be all fine and dandy, if it they were limited to 5 people (a single party, not a raid).|||Quote:

That prolly was about doing premade raids to AV.

There are some addons, which allows your whole raid to join the queue at the same time, providing that they all have the addon, and have the "join battleground queue" window open when he clicks the extra "join as a group" button the addon delivers.

This is not something you should get banned for (GMs are not the end of all), but a lot of people think so.

Premades to other BGs, just make a group, and click the "Join as a group" button in the "join BG Q" interface.

It's much more fun. even if you only play with a friend or two.|||Oh, OK, thanks. Only tried BG once and was a spectacular failure and fled, shouts of 'noob' in my wake. So It's not something I'd need or use, then.|||I'm really surprised no-one really seems to care about premades while emotions rise so high about twinks. :s|||I dont see what the problem is with letting 10 or 15 friends play together. Isnt this a MMORPG? Groups of friends join the game to play together. Why stop them from doing that?

Any class that doesnt rely on being in melee range suffer the least.

Worst for high ping - rogue, warr etc

best for high ping - mage , lock, hunter etc

Although this is debatable. I ping around 80-110 and with my rogue still occasionally get the "you are out of range" when right on top of someone. With my warr its pretty bad simply because nothing is worse than a clutch charge and then you end up 10 feet from your target due to latency and they continue to kite you.

A few years ago I was pinging 300-400 and could only play casters because melee classes frustrated me being out of range when right near people.|||Quote:

Healers are ok'ish, the reason i say this is that sure they are casters so they suffer less from having ot be in a 5yrd range, but there are times that people's health bars drop after the fact due to lag and this may mess ya up at times. Overall I think, and I am saying this with numerous 70's and having played with high ping in the past, that anything that doesnt rely on a 5yrd range is the best way to go. The absolute worst IMO is a dagger rogue, try being behind someone and within 5yrds, its a bitc*.

Is Ret still useless?

I love the idea of a warrior that can heal himself. Ive always wanted Ret to work and now Blizzard has supposedly improved Ret.

I was forced to play Holy until now, and have found that Holy can kill almost anything. If I go Ret Im starting to feel that I wont be able to do that. My friends say that Holy is still WAY more useful and successful in PVP and PVE than Ret will ever be.

Is Ret still useless? If not, do I want to go all STR and AGI instead of any INT?

Thanks

Mequias|||Ret is not useless, however it is still not the best melee DPS class. The major issue that Ret pallys seem to have is a spall mana pool. In arena most skilled players will do whatever they can to drain your mana thus removing you from the battle more or less.

I would say that in a BG holy is for sure more useful then ret, but in alot of cases healers are always more useful than dps. I would check the Pally forum for better advice and insight from them.|||Ret is confirmed to be 1 of the worst Spec in Arena. so take that the way that fit best|||Go ret, more noobs to get my rating up|||In arena, outside of the 3v3 Arms Warrior/Ret Paladin/Resto Shaman Combo, they are generally not considered the largest threat. That combo however is deadly.

In BG's, Ret can easily do as well as any DPS class, I've topped damage and am generally in the top 10 overall if I stay on offense (IE, not guarding towers while capping).

In 5 mans, Ret can do very well, but are lacking in the CC department.

In 10 man raids, Ret can do ok, when geared properly and put in a melee group with a Shaman, but it's hard to do this in 10 mans.

In 25 man raids, Ret is fine, again as long as they are put in a melee group with a Shaman. WF ups our damage more than any other class/spec with the sole exception of Arms Warrior.|||To be honest I enjoy being Ret spec'd as long I have another player with me.

Simply because my 2-handed mace seems to take an AGE to swing after the

previous swing. (Gladiator's Mace. Can't remember the name, sorry!)

So this kinda forced me into a defensive role. Protecting graveyards and such.

But this solves the first (attack speed) problem because I'm never on my own.

You'll go out of Mana fairly quickly when there's more than one opponent so

try to get some Manna Biscuits from friendly Mages before the BG starts.

(Crusader Strike + Seal of choice + Consecration + stuns = ~30% remaining

mana for the not-so-great geared like myself.)|||Consecrations damage is laughable at best for a retadin - unless you need to kill snakes or unhide that pesky rogue, no real use for it.|||Ret certainly has the ability for some HUGE burst damage but in the wrong situation and with the wrong partner it's hard to take advantage of it.

You also have to remember their other valuable abilities: BoP, BoF, Judged seal of Justice - not every one knows this but Judging Seal of Justice on a druid is one of the few things that shape shifting doesn't remove.|||lol in 3v3 a mage/hunter/priest owns the warrior/retpally/restodruid. we can mana drain and kite with ease. anything with a warlock causes a slight problem that can be solved y killing the felpuppy|||Not saying its an unbeatable combo, it's jsut the best option. I believe pretty much every Ret with a 2k+ rating is in that combo.

PvP advice for a Priest

They said it couldn't be done on a 29 mage, but I think I made a good go of it, what with having no money! The gf has now dragged me to Alliance side on a different server, so I thought I'd try another challenge - a priest.

Now, one thing I learned with WoW on my Pally is that healing other people is pretty near a 100% waste of time - you save them, they run off and leave you to die. Can anyone give me any advice? I guess I need survivability so was thinking doing the same as my mage - STA and INT - but everyone tells me INT and spirit. Is Spirit and INT more for PvE?

I'll be taking this toon to 70 eventually as I love her to bit, but want to stay at 29 for a bit to learn the class. Any advice - especially for places to farm appreciated. The gf is levelling her toon as an enchanter which my help :)

Thanks guys!|||Spirit is for PvE.

Stick with stamina and int.

Negotiate with someone to duo the entire bg. meaning you have a sheild while they get free heals. tell them if they protect you, you'll heal them constantly.

What spec are you going for with your priest?

Also..... why did you go alliance? you guys seem to be having a grand ole time as hordes.|||Sadly, the gf is even shallower than me and likes pretty toons, and in her opinion Dren are the best looking. Messed up my Talents and never got around to changing them (not staying 29 much longer, already have my PvP boots ) so they look like this:

Meds' talent

Probably wouldn't change them much anyway, maybe a point here and there.

Duoing works really well apart from never really being able to get a heal off with a twink on me, but I'm having fun :)

whats the best class for pvp

And i know that ppl will say that it's not about blah blah blah....

Paladins and Locks are the most annoying classes to fight in PvP (Bubble and Fear respectively)... But any class and player can be over come by any other class or player... It's the beauty of Wow...

I don't think there is an answer to this question... but hey maybe I'm just a pessimist...|||it honestly depends on matchups

Rogues tend to whoop up on casters

Lock do well against most folks but if a rogue gets the jump on them they're toast (I play a lock).

Warriors do well against other melee not so much against casters.

Hunters are a mixed bag and do well against most other classes but can also get royally worked too

Mages can two shot lots of classes :) but if melee gets in close they tend to melt (includes pet melee)

Druid and shaman tend to be pretty reliable but depending upon spec sometimes offer too little dps or too little survivability

So, yeah.... depends on who you are fighting really. I keep hearing from everybody else how much they hate fighting locks. I guess I do ok, but I know rogues turn me into goo if they can get the drop on me. It doesn't matter which class is "the best" though if you don't have any fun playing them. Hahaha, I was thinking the same thing.|||From a Mages point of view I personally hate shamans, hunters, and rogues. In general I would say those are the three strongest pvp classes. as far as casters go they all have great dps mages r heaviest hitters normally but alot more fragile than a lock . If I had to choose one overall pvp class it is between hunters and shamans.

Mail = survivability

Traps/totems/tons of instant cast dmg

Shamans can heal, hunters fd aswell they both have forms of 30%+ run speed which is vital for flag capping and chasedowns.

Anyways thats my little analysis. God bless Ghandi : )|||My vote goes to rogues. 1v1, even with equal gear, the rogue will wait until you've got a couple of mobs engaged and then attack. If things don't look like they're going to go his way, he'll vanish and try someone else.

Best Holy Paladin Arena Combos

Whats the best arena combos for a healadin?

2v2

3v3

5v5|||Based on my limited exp I would say 5v5. I did several with myself a Lock, Druid, Mage and a Warrior. I only did it for 3 weeks. We didn't take it real seriously but we won around 50% of our matches. My friends still continue to do them and always want a Healadin in their 5-man group.
