39 Warlock Twink

Ok, so i've decided to invest the time and gold into making a lvl 39 warlock twink. I'm still doing the basic research before going ahead with anything... except for leveling my warlock. He's @ lvl 30 (WotF) ready to start getting geared up. I have a basic list of weapons & armor i am going to get, but I haven't decided for sure on most of it because i'm unsure of what stats would be the best for him. I'm thinking +spell damage is most important, followed by +shadow spell damage, followed by +sta, and finally +int.

Please, constructive criticism is welcomed on any/all of this.

So here is my twink gear list (all items have an item lvl of 35 or higher):

Staff of Jordan: +11 int, +11 spr, +26 spells; +40 spell damage enchant

Jaina's Firestarter: +6 int, +3 spr

Silky Spider Cape: +11 sta, +5 spr; +20 spell penetration

Robe of the Magi: +6 int, +5 spr, +22 spells; +150 hp

Defiler's Cloth Boots: +10 sta, +3 int, run speed, +8 spells;

Black Mageweave Gloves: +15 spells; +20 spells

Whitemane's Chapeau: +9 sta, +14 int, +14 spr; libram of..?

Necromancer Leggings: +12 sta, +11 int, +10 spells; +25 spells/+15 sta (mystic spell thread)

Triune Amulet: +7 sta, +7 int, +7 spr

Darkmist Mantle of Shadow Wrath: +20 shadow

Defiler's Cloth Girdle: +4 sta, +4 int, +14 spells

Bloodwoven Bracers of Shadow Wrath: +14 shadow; +12 sta

Underworld Band: +10 sta, +6 spr, +14 spells

Golden Ring of Power: +4 sta, +5 int, +5 spr, +6 spell

or

Advisor's Ring: +5 sta, +9 spell, +3 mana/5s

Anyone have anything better than any of the things i've listed? please let me know if you do... that includes enchants or the like. With this build, i would total about +235 shadow, +185 spells, with no clue on what my mana/sta unbuffed will be.

For talents, i'm thinking one of these three (i may try all):

Full affliction: http://wowdigger.com/talent/view/9/0...00000000000000

Insta Cor/Ruin: http://wowdigger.com/talent/view/9/0...00000000000000

Insta Cor/Demo: http://wowdigger.com/talent/view/9/0...00000000000000

And i think that covers all of the important stuff... am i missing anything? Thoughts? Suggestions?|||Kerosene, I think you've done your research well. Most everything you have there is pretty much the best you can get. I'll tell ya, warlocks at this level, when outfitted like you have here, are unbelievably overpowered if played the right way. For some reason I hardly ever run into these when I play the 39 bracket (and I play the 39 for hours on a daily basis) and I'm very very glad that I don't. There's never one on my team either, which would be nice.

I do like that second build you have up there, both some good DoT damage and direct damage. Full affliction would be nice too. I think you're correct in that +spell damage would be your biggest asset, as long as you stay alive wiith lots of + stam. IIRC you can have two Underworld bands as they are not unique. Be prepared to destroy all who oppose you, unless you meet me of course :)|||thanks for the feedback. i picked up staff of jordan (100g) & a free +40 spell damage enchant on it :) also got the gloves (1.5g) & a free +20 spell damage on it too. looking hard for the rest of those BoE's and i don't plan on leveling much until i do. also gonna follow stigg's advice from his twink guide and explore evvvvvvvverywhere - which kinda sucks on foot.

i'll post an amory link when all is said & done.|||Instead of Darkmist Mantle of Shadow Wrath, these might be nice:

Berylline Pads

Binds when picked up

Shoulder Cloth

39 Armor

+5 Stamina

+10 Intellect

+6 Spirit

And instead of Robe of The Magi:

Robes of the Lich

Binds when picked up

Chest Cloth

64 Armor

+20 Stamina

+10 Intellect|||those are nice, but i was trying to get +spell damage over +sta to take people down quicker. but the stamina would give me more survivability. decisions, decisions.|||Keronsene, now looking at the 2 above posts (yours and xxlebox) you could mix and match. Get... lets say Beryline pads, for its Stamina and stuff, and then keep youir robe of the magi, or other way around. The thing is both of thos are BoP which means you either grind/quest/run thru instances to get them. That will give you exp, which you don't really want. Try to get all of your items that you need before leveling past the (x)5 mark of your twinking bracket because that can get tight... In your position, get all your stuff BEFORE lvl 35. GOodluck with your twink man (seem to be verrrry rich :( ) lol... Im twinking a rogue, but I may drop that Idea and just play my Lock as is...

I really don't know... WSG 10-19 is getting very boring very quickly :P HORDE LOSES ALL OF THE TIME! Oh well, have fun :)|||i may replace whitemane's chapeau with:

Augural Shroud

+5 sta

+10 int

+11 spells

i can't believe that item is green...|||What I'd do, is get a stat set. And a Spell Dmg Set.

Make a macro to switch them out when you want to. ;)

That way you have survivability when needed and spell dmg for going on one person.|||yeah i plan to have a double set ready and use item rack to switch.|||I have a twink Warlock, he's close to being maxed out but needs one or two more enchants. I need 15 spell dmg to bracers and 20 spell penetration to cloak, and also the 100 hp libram to head but I'm working on that now.

One major thing I think you left out is your head piece. If you want to max out you will want this:

Green Lens of Shadow Wrath

Binds when equipped

Head Cloth

57 Armor

+10 Stamina

+34-36 Shadow Spell Damage

Requires Engineering (245)

Item Level 49

Full affliction is the way to go for 30-39 but your talents aren't proper for a twink lock, try this:

http://wowdigger.com/talent/view/9/0...00000000000000

Also something you should know is a smart twink warlock always uses his felhunter with spell lock and devour magic auto cast OFF. Set the spell casting to a hotkey via a macro. Below are some of my favorite macro's I use:

Silence:

#showtooltip Spell Lock

/cast Spell Lock

Set this to a hotkey that is convenient. Only noobs run around auto silencing... use this for when that pesky priest is trying to heal (or shaman or paladin or druid for that matter) or when that mage is trying to nuke you.

Devour Magic from YOU:

#showtooltip Devour Magic

/cast [target=player] Devour Magic

No matter who you have targeted, when you press the hotkey your felhunter will devour magic from you while you still maintain your current target. This can remove fear, psychic scream, entangling roots, polymorph, and even the pally stun.

Devour Magic from THEM:

#showtooltip Devour Magic

/cast Devour Magic

Again, set this to a hotkey and use it when a priest shields himself, or a paladin trying to get away with blessing of freedom, or when that druid uses a heal over time (or my personal favorite, the shaman running the flag in ghost wolf, purge him right back to his feet)

Assist the flag carrier by slowing his pursuers:

#showtooltip

/targetenemy

/cast Curse of Exhaustion

This will target the enemies in front of you alphabetically and cast curse of exhaustion on them. Don't press this any faster than the global cooldown or it might miss somebody

Drain tanking the mana efficient way:

#showtooltip

/cast [nochanneling:Drain Life] Drain Life

This will not recast drain life while it is still active, this macro is spammable.

My 'I Win' button, literally

/cast [modifier:ctrl] Amplify Curse

/stopcasting

/castsequence reset=target Curse Of Agony, Corruption, Siphon Life

I named this macro on my character 'I Win' for obvious reasons. This macro will be your best friend. It automatically cycles through your three instant cast DoTs which are combined to one single hotkey. If you change targets, the cycle resets itself. For added ease (and pain for them) if you hold CTRL (can be changed to ALT) and press the hotkey, it will AUTOMATICALLY cast your amplify curse AND curse of agony before cycling to the other two DoTs. All you need to do is target somebody, spam this til they're triple dotted, then target somebody else and repeat. The end result should have you looking like this:
