I have 0 epics and am having trouble getting drops in instances with so many people.
I figure I should probably go pvp to try and earn some gear.
I'm familiar with 3 pvp zones (WSG, AB, AV). Someone in guild chat suggested I start with AV and follow the mob. That was the only advice.
Any other advice would be appreciated. Also, what is the other PVP zone (Arena?). Another guildmate asked me to 2vs2 w/ him for a month to get some uber axe that I don't know anything about.
I assume you get honor points for pvp and in turn use those honor points to buy gear. Are honor points in all zones combined or does each have their separate point system?|||All honor is combined.
Each Zone has its own marks which are also used for buying items. Different items require honor alone or a combination of honor and marks from a particular battleground. You can search the WoW main site for more info as to what each item cost.
A7 L70 you can also enter Eye Of the Storm Battleground.
AV has been the the fastest way to earn honor for me, When I was doing them we won most of the time. Your battlegroup may differ.
If you are running heroics or dungeons that give you marks of honor you can also trade them for gear.
For the really good PvP stuff you need arena points, for the best of the best you also need a good arena rating to purchase some items.|||what you might want to take a look at now are S2 gear. Season 2 arena gear. you probably just need one or two pieces of gear, and you'll just need them to compliment the stats that you need to improve on. remember that pvp gear is made specifically for pvp, but has some pve uses. use this as a starting point. get a few pieces to round yourself out and then kick some butt in what you really want to do. heck, you might like pvp more after doing some battlegrounds.
i hear AV gives you honor faster than other BG's. so try that. i find AV much more fun than the other battlegrounds. goodluck with that.
for the axe that your friend was mentioning, look up "gladiator decapitator". there will be a prefix for the name, for season four, its "Brutal", so you guys will probably be fighting to get enough points to buy the Brutal Gladiator decapitator. also, there are other axes that are mainhand/offhands, so you might want to consider those as well--if you want to dual wield.|||Learn the AV map so you understand what people say in chat.
Understand that your team's reinforcements (which start at 600) must outlast those of your opponents. Here's what reduces reinforcements:
If our side kills the enemy general (at the very opposite end of the map), enemy reinforcements go to zero, we win yay.
Kill the enemy captain (in a building near midfield), -100.
Burn an enemy tower/bunker, -75.
Kill an enemy player, -1.
It's very hard to overcome a disadvantage in towers/bunkers. If Alliance doesn't defend Stonehearth Graveyard, then Horde is virtually certain of taking Icewing and Stonehearth bunkers. As long as Horde holds Iceblood Graveyard, Stonehearth Bunker is virtually indefensible.
Alliance almost never recognizes that Stonehearth Graveyard is as important to it as Iceblood is to the Horde. Alliance pretty much goes do-or-die charging toward Drek'Thar, the Horde general, and usually dies.
If you're Alliance and end up all stacked up at the top of the map, best thing you can do is defend and use the Alliance's topographic advantages. You can rack up a lot of honor in a long defense, given that each kill is 21 honor (at 70).
Capture a mine, get +1 reinforcement every 45 sec. It's meaningful in long games.
If you loot enemy corpses, you get items that can be turned in at NPCs on your end of the map. These items may help your side (it's a long story). Do the basic AV quests obtained in the Alterac Mountains, and you will get a trinket that returns you to your home base, where you can do turn-ins. Your loot disappears if you die, though, so turn in when you can.
You get bonus honor for accomplishing the above objectives as well as for saving your side's objectives/bosses from being defeated. In a game where everybody runs around clueless, you get much less honor.|||Did 2 AVs last night. Alliance won both battles although I'm not sure I was much help. I didn't really know what I was doing other than following the people in the group.
On a side note, ran Arena 10x 2x2 last night and got smoked 8/10 times. Lost all 10 but we were close on 2 of them. We are a 2 hunter team and were getting smoked teams in S3 gear. Me and teammate don't have an epic between us.
Rogues caused the biggest problem because they would just sneak up to 1 of us and one of us would be dead by the time we saw them. Speaking for myself, my hunter is just about useless in melee. Flares didn't work vs the rogues. My teammate was a little frustrated that we were having to fight teams that outgeared us by so much.|||Flares DO work, but I suspect they were shadowstepping in to get you, so the flare was only useful in forcing them to use the CD to get the first hit. You should also stand on top of ice traps.
As for having to fight teams that outgear you by a country mile...welcome to the wonderful arena rating system ;)
