Hi, I would like to know Whats the best Race to select when choosing a Character.
For example:
I want to make an Arcane Mage Should i make her: Human, Gnome, Undead, Troll, Blood Elf, or Draenei? Whats the Best Combination?
Other then Arcane Mage, Whats Best for
Ret Pally ?
Hunter ?
And DK ?
Thanks All =)|||From a game play point of view there is no best combination. Certain races will give you very slight advantages (gnomes have +intellect passive racial ability for example) but it comes down to what's most asthetically pleasing to you. If you don't like looking at your character, you're much less likely to play it.
If you're looking for justification from a RP point of view, I'll defer to the more well versed lore nerds|||Quote:

I just want to know whats more useful for example like being an Orc is good for a Warriors since it adds extra Axes abilities, or a Troll Hunter that adds Speed. or a Gnome Warlock adds Mana ...... Not sure about Undead though ,,,, they are useful for all kinds i guess.
So as you see there are better choices then others....|||Quote:

Just to repeat what was said before, once you reach the level cap, the racial abilities mean squat. It's nice to have a bonus, but it's not game breaking by any means.
You want to run a gnomish warrior, then you can, and depending upon how skilled a player you are, you can run circles around someone with a supposedly "superior racial" choice.|||What faction do your friends play? Even if you play on a PvE server, you can only chat and quest with eachother if you're on the same side.
Other than that, pick a race with looks and voices that appeals to you.
If you're new to the game, you might wanna make one of each race, just to see all the starting areas.|||I will agree with the above posters in that racials only go so far. They won't save you in a pinch, but they're not a bad thing to have, either. Making and playing a character is entirely your decision, and you will be the one playing it. For that reason, you are the only one that can really decide.
However, you did ask for an opinion. Obviously, most people's opinions will vary, but here is mine nonetheless:
Arcane Mage.
Alliance - Gnome. Gnomes have the highest base intellect of all the Alliance races. They also have some fairly nifty racials otherwise; for example, their 'Escape Artist' (if that is still a racial post-patch, I haven't checked) and the Engineering passive. While not all people would recommend Engineering, it is terribly fun.
Horde - Undead. I was originally going to say Blood Elf, but as you've asked in the PVP subforum? It has to be Undead. They basically have a free, racial PVP trinket in 'Will of the Forsaken', which is pretty damn awesome. Aside from that, they have 'Cannibalize', which is a perfect way of getting back some valuable HP when in the middle of a fight (and when your foes are adequately distracted).
Retribution Paladin.
There really isn't a competition, here. Blood Elf racials, in my opinion, are a lot more caster-oriented. Humans get two expertise racials (in two-handed maces and swords), which in my books makes them a clear winner. (Not to mention that they, too, have a free PVP trinket racial, in 'Every Man For Himself.')
If you plan to rep grind with factions for gear, then the 'Diplomacy' racial is definitely a bonus. It adds 10% to all rep gains, which is going to make things a thousand times faster in Northrend content, especially with the rep gain tabards!
Hunter.
It really does depend on what spec you wish to go.
Marksman - Dwarves or Trolls, depending on whether you'd prefer to use Guns or Bows. (Dwarves get improved skill in Guns, and Trolls get improved Bow skill.)
Survival - Night Elves, for their +5% dodge chance.
Beast Mastery - Orcs. They have a racial which increases the damage done by their pets by 5%.
Death Knight.
I don't really have an answer for this, but if you really must ask.. Purely down to racials, I'd have to go with humans again. Especially as 99% of the Death Knights I've seen have stuck to two-handed swords; though Orc may also be a good choice, for their added skill with axes.
I hope my post was of some use to you, and I wish you the very best of luck with making your decision! ^-^|||Quote:

Sorry for being off-topic, but just gotta say this. Night elves make excellent rogues. I don't see many of them, though... I mean, they are the best race for rogues! All I ever see... is these... people... with their... hunters... and druids! No rogues! D: THE WORLD OF WARCRAFT/AZEROTH NEEDS MORE ROGUES!|||I will say that the new version of Shadowmeld, the NE racial, is pretty nice for anyone, but especially priests and druids. It's a lot like Vanish, on a 2 minute cooldown, you just can't move once you use it. Still, it can save an instance wipe for your group. As my druid, if things go all to crap, I can shadowmeld, drop aggro, wait for everyone to die, then unstealth and rez.
2 downsides, you keep your position on the aggro list while stealthed, you're just ignored. If you come back before combat has been dropped, you WILL get attacked again.
Also, it has practically no value in PvP, other than for surprise attacks. You can't use it in combat to hide like a rogue can, though it does give a good boost to rogues, as Yakeshi noted.
The Draenei racial is pretty awesome too, especially while leveling. Free in combat heals, on a 3 minute CD? Yes please!|||Here is my 2cp.
If you are going to roll alliance and the class allows save yourself a lot of time and roll a human.
10% faction boos is nothing to overlook.
Exalted: 1000
Revered: 21000
Honored: 12000
Friendly: 6000
Neutral: 3000
Unfriendly: 3000
Hostile: 3000
Hated: 36000
Let us just say, you start out neutral with a faction and you need to get to exalted.
According to my math that from friendly to exalted = 33,00 rep.
With the human bonus that = 3,300 less rep for you.
That may seem trivial with one faction, however multiply it out to 10, 15, 25, or even 40 factions.
I am not exalted with any of the home alliance factions (stormwind, ironforge etc) and i'm exalted with 11 factions.
11x 3,300 (rule of thumb) = 36,300 rep I would not have had to grind.
When you consider some factions start out at unfriendly the advantage is even greater.
If you really want to save yourself some time in PvE pick a human.
If you want to read about a rep grind go google "sons of hodir" reputation and just imagine finishing that 10% faster.|||Quote:

i kinda dont understand your reasoning....
you're not supposed to see rogues.
