First question:
I know Mages are at a disadvantage against DeathKnights. Any thouhts on how to survive (as a frost mage) against or take down a Death Knight in Random PvP encounters?
Also, I started playing my lower leveled (26) Rogue and took him into WSG for the fun of it, I got the stealth and sneak around part down, and I've been trying to sneak into the enemy flag room and steal the flag as soon as it gets replaced on the stand. Should I wait by the flag, grab it sprint out, hope the speed buff is there and keep going, or want by the speed buff and grab it then the flag and run out the other side?
Any other Rogue tips?|||Quote:

If mages are at a disadvantage against DK's then I must be an extraordinary mage :) On my 80 arcane mage I absolutley steamroll DK;s wether it be world pvp, bg's, or whatever. Frost speced is no difference.
If he starts with a deathgrip consider the match over you won. Keep ice barrior up whenever possible. Trinket out of Chains of ice if possible. Save blink for his deathgrip. Ice block if you get deathgriped and have no blink available or cannot get away with frost nova, but before ice blocking pop elemental if his cooldown is up so you can freeze him right before you come out of ice block. If your gnome use escape artist on Chains of ice as well. Frost Nova when he gets to close for comfort and if its available silence him while hes nova'd or you will not be able to nuke as he will either death coil, chain of ice or icy touch you which will push back your casting, Its really a straight forward fight. As a mage, especially frost with coldsnap , you can counter every single thing he does x2.|||My DK is my main and Mages are the bane of my existance sometimes. The Mages that are good at kiting are pretty hard to kill as a DK.
You just have to remember to stay out of reach and kite, kite, kite.|||Quote:

i'm curious how you can do all of that if *he* silences *you*|||Quote:

mmmmmmmmmmm ice block............|||I actually find this interesting since a DK is supposed to be the anti-magic tank. IMO, a dk should just able to steamroll a mage. A dk should be a mage's counter class.|||Quote:

Beware of the fact that there's probably some sort of aoe cast over the flag spawn point.|||Quote:

It depends on the situation.
When there's defenders better Sap one and Cheap Shot another and run out. If you take the tunnel on your way in you might see if the speed boost is there. Otherwise you may want to take one of the other ways out. The Sprint skill is quite an advantage but usually there's still hunters around, they can be a pain. Personally I don't use Sprint until necessary.
Another consideration is when you look at the map and see where your teammates are. Usually I plan my escape to reach them as soon as possible for support, even when the GY exit is the closest.
Exits:
1. Graveyard. An advantage is that it's closest to your own ramp entrance so you don't have to cross the field. Of course when you're very unlucky your enemies will spawn right before your nose but otherwise it's the best and least expected route.
2. Tunnel: fastest exit, speed boost may be there. Disadvantage: you have to go through the middle of the field so all of your opponents can intercept you quite easily when there's no support around. If the speed boost is there I always take that route, when I exit the tunnel I always move to the left, away from the enemy GY.
3. Ramp: in a way the safest but also longest route. I always run close to the edge of the map and only move to the tunnel of my own base when it's safe or I have support.
When your opponent has no defenders in the flag room it's hard for them to see what path you're taking. That's a major advantage. And even when there is an opponent he/she doesn't necessarily communicate your way out.|||Quote:

Yes, i tottaly agree with all the points you made|||A good DK should be able to beat an equally geared fire mage the majority of the time based solely on the class mechanics.
Arcane can beat blood dks the majority of the time but it's a 50/50 chance against frost dks and unholy dks based on the mechanics.
Frost mages should always beat equally geared death knights based once again on the mechanics.
This is true the majority of the time if both the mage and dk are completely aware of all their skills and decently good at pvp.
