EOTS Question

Last weekend, I grinded 40 EOTS marks (mostly 1 at a time). Won like 5 out of 30 matches.

It seems like the key to the game is controlling and holding 3 towers. Seems pretty plain and simple. What's the deal with the flag?

When we had 3 towers and held them, we always won. When we kept having people fight in the middle for the flag we lost. Of course we lost other ways.

Can someone give a breakdown of how points are awarded and give an explanation of the flag and benefits of it?|||i think its best to wowwiki this one.

capping a tower gives you points. capping more towers give you more points.

capping the flag also gives you points, but not consistently.

capping three towers while keeping the flag occupied will win you the game.|||Here you go:

Capping Towers gives you X points by 2 secs. X depends on numbers of towers you have:

1 tower controlled = 1 point/tick (0.5 points per a second)

2 towers controlled = 2 points/tick (1 point per a second)

3 towers controlled = 5 points/tick (2.5 points per a second)

4 towers controlled = 10 points/tick (5 points per a second)

Capping flag gives you more points per towers under control:

1 towers controlled = 75 points

2 towers controlled = 85 points

3 towers controlled = 100 points

4 towers controlled = 500 points

When you get your hands on the flag you get 3.3 points.

The strategy is simple:

1) Try to cap as many towers as you can for the entire fight.

2) If capping towers is to hard and you got at least 2 towers, you should invest time getting Flag, but keep an eye on towers.

3) If the flag is left out and easy to pickup, get it!!! If it's guarded even if you can defeat the guard, don't do it.

4) If your about to get a tower, wait before turning the flag.

Capping the flag at the end gives you a bonus honor.

In short: Towers will makes you win, the flag can help you but won't make a significant difference if you can cap 3 towers.|||Quote:

QFT.

I would also add my emphasis on the importance of the towers over the flag. If you can hold three towers, the opposition can cap the flag all the live long day and still not beat you.|||Quote:

And yet it still boggles the mind how the majority of allies still insist on fighting in the center or on the road.|||Quote:

I know.... /cry

it basically comes down to this: Cap and D 3 towers and you'll win. If you can't reliably D 3 towers, then D 2 and get the flag as much as possible. The flag in that case is basically a tiebreaker. It is not possible to win with only 1 tower capped so NEVER leave too few people on D if you're each holding 2 towers.|||Quote:

Just wanna add to that sentiment: The towers are the key and it bugs me no end that people insist on going for the flag all the time. Well, it's just another example of the lack of coordination that saturates all BG's....and why does The Horde always win EOTS??

/weep|||4 Towers > 3 Towers > 2 Towers + Flag > 2 Towers > 1 Tower + Flag

That is all you need to know. And yes, about 85-95% of the gaming population does not understand this simple fact.|||My theory on people fighting in t he middle is that they want to fight vs win. Defending a tower can be boring much of the time and, if you're the only one on D you often just get slaughtered when the group of 5 or so runs up and attacks. By contrast, going middle lets you fight. Of course so does attacking a tower... /sigh

None of the 3 resource based BGs (EotS, AB and AV) are hard to figure out. All of them are just math - what will get us to the finishing criterion faster than the other side? WSG is, in some ways, the purest BG since it's all about which group can actually beat the other.|||Quote:

4 Towers > 3 Towers > 2 Towers + Flag > 2 Towers > 1 Tower + Flag

I should make this a macro and repeat it a few times at every EotS...
