[:1]alright, so i need some help here i just have no idea what to do... i stopped playing wow bout a year ago after leveling and decently gearing a mage and a rogue, both eighties. and both were geared for pvp. i liked both classes they were alot of fun in pvp for sure

but now.. im coming back to play wow and i dont know what character i should level.. i was thinking priest-are they terrible at eighty these days?- or maybe a shammy?

can anyone help me as to why or why not a priest is good for dps shadow or support heals

thanks!|||Quote:

I wish I could help ya out a little more, I do not have a priest atm but I will tell you that I've seen some shadow priest just destroy in pvp at times, when it comes to being specced holy ehh...I dont know they do kinda seem a little bit easier to kill, but not that easy..lol srry for the lack of knowledge, just going off of what I've been seeing recently...|||the problem with priests in PvP is that they are mostly DoT damage, and PvP these days is very much about burst damage. sure you do get shadow priests in PvP, but they are in the minority. for healing, you can have a go with discipline but you'll have your work cut out, plus you'll stick out like a sore thumb in the middle of a battleground.

With this in mind, I would go for shaman, as enhancement (if you can get your timing right, which as a rogue shouldn't be a problem) will tear things apart with their burst damage.|||Disc priests is pretty awesome if you'd ask me, got it as offspec on mine.

Shadow isn't that viable in PvP, mostly due to lack of survivability, but I've never really cared about shadow in PvP, I've always laughed when I've seen a shadow priest in arena. But feel free to try, I'm not really a die-hard PvP'er so I might be wrong.

Though their damage is pretty awesome.|||shadow priest damage is awsome.......if you survive long enough to get all your dots and debuffs on before you die. and even if you do, they'll likely either be healed through or dispelled as soon as you're dead.

EDIT: the other disadvantage is that if the other team have any sort of priest, you'll have to get through enemy shadow resistance.|||Shaman in PvP are quite good at 80, I play mine an Elemental, and the burst damage can be incredible if you gear up appropriately. Just be aware that we don't have mega survivability and totems need to be changed as and when needed. I have no clue about Priests or Enhancement Shaman in PvP though. But hope it helps anyway.|||Quote:

Indeed. I leveled my priest from 20ish to mid 60's as shadow - awesome fun. Switched to Holy now but that works to. Its lovely to top the healing and win some bg's :))

And your edit - get the cloak spell pen enchants as shadow.

Thinking of going Disc to try it out = Penance! I might miss my CoH though :(

Edit: Yes Lonexwolf, Ele shaman are damn good....from what ive seen.|||I could use some help too. I recently just got back into PVP with my mage and i am building my gear up but I am a little uncertain of what to do about gems. I read that I should stack spell pen and resilance? is that really right? I always thought spell power and crit where more important? Also in my PVE I stack haste, is that as important in PVP or should i stack hit instead? Lastly is the hit cap for mages in PVP and PVE the same?

I don't know if i'd gem resil. the pvp gear you get should be swimming in it already. Not sure what pvp mages usually gem. can't help you on that. i just wouldn't gem resil.

Hit cap in pvp is lower then pve. find out your classes particular hit requirements. i think its like 4 or 6%

And spell pen well heres a touchy subject. i would do it if your pvping now and don't care that come xpac time. i believe they're doing away with spell pen all together so if your on a budget and aren't playing too seriously i wouldn't waste your money on enchants and gems.|||fury warrior ftw!
