De-Stealthing Stealthers

Hey I'm a lvl 60 War and I just wonder if anyone has some good tips on how to detect rogues or druids that are stealthed! I always see them in the distance, and then see them stealth.. and then I just have to wait around staying on my toes until they initiate combat.. which sucks. I always pop my human racial to detect stealth, but I don't find that it works very well.. so any help would be awesome!|||Quote:

Hmm Human Warrior.

Thunderclap. It will bring a Rogue out of stealth if the rogue is in range. As a War, You are pretty limited in the ways of de-stealthing skills. Like you said, you can use the Human racial but it does not last that long.

There are some other things that you can also use to assist with stealth detection, though the use of the following also will depend on class and profession:

* Talent: Heightened Senses (+3 per skill point, up to +6, rogue)

* Ability: Track Hidden (+30, hunter)

* Ability: Felhunter (paranoia) (+30, warlock)

* Racial: Human - Perception (+50)

* Item: [Deathblow X11 Goggles] (or any other epic Engineering goggles) (+5)

* Item: [Catseye Ultra Goggles] (+18)

* Item: [Bloodvine Lens] (+10)

* Item: [Hyper-Vision Goggles] (+30)

* Item: [Marshal's Dragonhide Gauntlets] (or any other druid PvP gloves) (+10, druid)

* Item: [The Night Watchman] (+10)

* Consumable: [Distilled Stalker Sight] (+15)

* Consumable: [Elixir of the Searching Eye] (+15)

* Consumable: [Catseye Elixir] (+10)|||Quote:

TC Eh? Did NOT know that.. thanks man, I'm pretty sure this will be perfect.

/cheers|||I plant a magma totem at my feet when I believe there's a rogue around. Paladins spam consecrate. Basically any aoe damage spell/effect can drop a rogue out of stealth|||I'm going to miss my Rank 1 Consecrate when WotLK comes out.

But having Hand of Freedom free me from stuns when talented will make up for it.|||Quote:

No problem, another good point on stealthed rogues: If you hear that sound that a rogue makes when going into stealth, you may (on purpose) stand there and do nothing. Yeah the rogue is going to sneak up behind you I know, but there's a reason for letting them get you once or twice. See, if you use TC too early or just have bad timing, you will TC and the Rogue will still be out of range, so you just wasted it and now have to wait for the cool down on it, it's not long (4 seconds) but that's plenty of time for a rogue to get behind you and land an ambush or something.

Knowing that rogues move at a reduced rate of speed (not countingthe Camouflage talent that increases Rogue speed while stealthed by 3/6/9/12/15% and reduces the cooldown of your Stealth ability by 1/2/3/4/5 seconds.) You will want to let a few rogues sneak up on you (if you have already seen or heard them stealth already) on purpose. Let them get you, and even kill you. What you should do these few times is to keep a mental count of how long between seeing or hearing them stealth and when the attack finally comes. This way once you have let them kill you on purpose a few times, you will begin to be able to figure out how long the average rogue will take to get behind you or to close the distance. Then you make your move. TC and bring them out of stealth and then keep them in front of you and out of stealth.

If a rogue is infront of you somewhere, they will always move off to one side or the other and try to circle around behind you. Some people tend to always move to the same side also ... so use this to your advantage when planning a counterattack.

Atleast now you have half a chance.|||I’ve played as a warrior for quite some time, especially in the 60 range. A stealthed rogue really isn’t that big of a deal to a warrior, IMHO, even if critted you’re generally going to have significantly more health than the rogue. Here’s what you do when you see a rogue stealth.

1. Get ready to TC if you can, guestimate when he’s near like Gorny said. If you can break him great hop to step 3 if you can’t start walking backwards. This will make the rogue sap you because they’re not going to be able to get behind you as they are moving at the same speed.

2. So you’re sapped…no biggie. Once you’re sapped you know what the rogue is going to do…ambush you. Whoopie. Give yourself a 2 count, because he’s going to try and get behind you. Pop either your PVP medallion or your berserker and at the same time JUMP BACK. I’ve gotten so good at this all I see is the rogue come out of hiding because they are now in front of me.

3. Smack the rogue with rend for a little dottage.

4. Make sure you have a two handed weapon ready and start the Overpower fun. If you’re arms a rogue vs. overpower is simple as pie.

5. make sure to keep the rogue bleeding in some way shape or form.

6. Tclap to increase attack time, because rogues do dish out some heavy damage.

7. Fear them away and then intercept them just because it’s fun to make a rogue feel helpless.

8. Finish them off with overpower or execute.

At lvl 60 I could kill lvl 63 rogues no problem, once I got my high warlords sword it got even easier. An average lvl 60 rogue has about what 4-6k health? A crit from a good high end weapon will hit between 600-1800 with overpower depending on crits. That’s not including white damage (put a sharpening stone and a counter weight on your two handed for extra damage and faster swings) Roughly with over power cool down you should be taking at least a 1/6th of a rogue’s life.

If they try to get crafty and use evasion, just use retaliation. And keep swining while their evasion cools down.

If they try to vanish and sprint let them. Hopefully you listened and had rend on them. And as the entire fight has been melee you should have intercept ready to use for when they run away… and they will.

If you google: warrior pvp how to kill a rogue

There #1 spot is an article I wrote with more or less the same idea, just a bit more detailed.

1 more thing...

Sometimes rogues like to blind or kidney shot while they heal. That’s ok, fear them and do the same.

And if you’re ARMS spec make sure you get a mortal strike in there for good measure.

Happy hunting.|||That is the best described and thought out post I have seen on this board. Bar none. Awesome!!|||Quote:

Yeah Thunderclap. Considering to fit the guidelines to use it. TC doesn't have a lot of range but it will sniff out any rogues trying to make a move on you.
