2nd week in Arena

First Week 0-10 (couple close losses)

Second Week 2-8 (couple close losses)

So we are getting better. My question is the rating issue. Our current ranking is 1275 or something like that. I realize that's pretty low but neither me nor my partner is really geared for pvp.

We've run into some fights where we just get slaughtered. We had one last night where this 1 rogue could've probably killed us without any help. My partner said guy was in T5 gear.

I have the blue stalker set and my partner is using 0 pvp gear for the most part. Other than us just sucking, that would also help explain our rating being low.

Why wouldn't Arena be set up to pit comparably rated teams against each other instead of us getting hammered by a couple people that are waaaay out of our league?|||The arena system will try to match you up against teams with about the same rating you have. As your rating goes lower, you'll find yourself fighting teams that feel closer to your own strength. In addition, because some classes/specs do better against certain classes, I've seen matches where we really didn't stand a chance against a team that was probably about as good as we were, just because they were our achille's heal and we didn't know how to compensate for it.|||It's always terrible near the start of a new arena season. You'll be facing people who are better geared and play better until their rating increases to a more appropriate level.|||If your rating is that low I'd just drop team and reform.

You'll be back at 1500 and get more points.

It cost gold, but if you're running arena for points then it might be worth it.|||Quote:

We've already gone 3 weeks and have about 680 points. We are still over 1200 rating after a 3-7 week. I'd brag we got better but one group we fought didn't even fight...They just sat there while we shot them. According to my partner, we only need a 711 rating next week to get the points needed to get to 800 for the Axe. It would be almost impossible to get that low of a rating. We'd have to go probably 0-200 and we only play 10 games a week.|||Reforming will reset your rating... but that means that you'll be pitted against higher rated teams too.

There's no reason for your partner not to have pvp gear since every class can go buy the blue stuff. Stam and resilience can be the difference in turning a close loss into a close win. Get the gear.

Spec will also affect things - some specs will do better than others in Arena vs PvE. And strategy & experience are key - knowing what to do against a given team makeup and being able to size them up and quickly do it are important as is knowing how to use the various Arenas. Line of sight, positioning, etc can all affect things.|||I agree with Clevins, have your partner go buy the blue PVP gear from Rep Vendors. It may not seem like much but it will help.

You can reset your team, but you will be back up playing better geared and coordinated teams. I know it sucks but stay in the lower end brackets for a while. You will still get points, can buy cheaper S3 gear. Over time you will get better gear and you will also learn to coordinate with each other. Also Spec helps as well. Once you two get rolling your ranking will come back up. Sure people will call you "Nubs" once you hit 1400 but hey be happy you guys were able to turn it around and rebound.

Heck maybe you will get to the 1400 bracket and I will still be in there and you can beat us... everyone else is!

Arena is like anything in WoW you won't be great the first time, just keep on plugging away, don't loose heart and you will get better.|||spend more time in bg's. Get the honor gear and the practice. Gear is important but skill n strategy are the most important.

What class/specs are you and your partner?|||Quote:

I'm BM Hunter and he's MM hunter. We only did Arena for the 800 pt War Axe and we'll have the axe tomorrow. We got a little better when we started fighting groups our own levels of gear.

3rd week 3-7 even though one group didn't even move (They would have probably beat us)

4th week 5-5 (also 1 group didn't even try but we'd have won anyways)

We will disband the team after points are awarded since his only goal was the axe and hopefully I'll find another teammate that really wants to win and move up.|||Im going pvp on my huntard. Got the brutal gloves, up to 325 resi now (missing pvp neckpiece only). Thinking I might respec to surv... BM is nice, but once the 'skill' is there, I think deep surv is an amazing utility spec for arenas. awesome crowd control when you need it and decent dps.
